lyrics

I was on course for a bonfire
in a backyard burning
stacked odds in young eyes
warm July don't abandon me
I wanted dancing in your late night
time was far cry
until I passed out in your room

thinking how did I get to the moon?

it was a flash flood hookup
with a ten mile shadow
no freeze no hands up
just look down and let go
I didn't want to stay there
in the blades in the crater
waiting for life to resume

thinking how did I get to the moon?

there was a she in the next scene
the queen of the universe
a shook leaf in a warm breeze
I looked into her
all the bells and the shed clothes
by the earthrise window
the song of a man marooned

how did I get to the moon

I'm still looking for the bonfire
but I'm a mile out yet still
red glossed young eyes
warm June forgetful me
but I'll be with you in the rewrite
when time is a far cry
from my nights on the white sand dune

in the grass looking up at the moon
with you
